LED Screen Pre-Installation Site Survey Checklist

Screen and viewing

• Final screen width and height agreed with the customer (in mm, and in modules and cabinets)
• Closest and typical viewing distance measured, pixel pitch chosen to suit
• Indoor, semi-outdoor or fully outdoor location confirmed
• Direct sunlight on the screen face checked (morning, noon, evening), brightness chosen to suit
• Content type known: video, text, live feed, slides
• Mounting height and viewing angle from the main audience area checked

Structure and mounting

• Wall or structure type recorded: RCC, brick, steel frame, glass front, pole, truss
• Load capacity of the wall or structure confirmed by a competent person for the full screen weight
• Wind load considered for outdoor and rooftop screens
• Front or rear service access decided, and enough space left behind the screen for rear service
• Flatness of the mounting surface checked, packers or adjustable brackets planned if needed
• Ventilation path for heat planned, especially for enclosed or outdoor screens

Power

• Maximum and average power of the screen estimated from the module datasheet
• Supply available at site: single phase or three phase, voltage measured
• Dedicated circuit with correctly rated MCB and RCCB available or planned
• Proper earthing point available at the screen location
• Distance from distribution board to screen measured, cable size chosen for that distance and load
• Voltage stabiliser or UPS need discussed for areas with unstable supply

Data and control

• Location of the sending card, video processor or PC agreed
• Network cable route and length measured, distance limits of the cable type checked
• Internet or Wi-Fi needed for remote content updates confirmed
• Input sources listed: HDMI, PC, media player, camera, cable TV

Site access and permissions

• Working hours, access and parking for installation day confirmed
• Scaffolding, ladder, boom lift or crane needed and arranged
• Building owner, society or local authority permission checked for outdoor screens
• Photos and measurements of the site taken and shared with the team
