The Colorlight LED Assistant app lets you control a Colorlight LED player from your phone and upload content to the LED screen without a computer. Over WiFi this is called LAN Control: your phone talks to the player directly, so no internet is needed. This guide and the video below show every step, from connecting to the player to publishing a program on the screen. It works with Colorlight players such as the A30, A40, A60, A100, A200 and A500.

Before you start
- Install the LED Assistant app from Colorlight on your Android phone or iPhone.
- Power on the Colorlight player connected to your LED screen.
- Keep the label on the player handy: it shows the player's WiFi hotspot name and password.
Two ways to connect over WiFi
- Phone joins the player's own WiFi hotspot. Every player makes its own hotspot. This is the simplest way on site.
- Phone and player on the same router WiFi. Useful when the player is already on the shop or office network.
Step by step: connect and publish a program
Step 1: Join the player's hotspot
Open the WiFi settings on your phone and join the hotspot printed on the player's label. The hotspot has no internet, so your phone may warn "No internet". Stay connected anyway, otherwise the app cannot find the player.
Step 2: Search for the player
Open LED Assistant and go to Terminal List. Pull down on the screen to search. If the player does not appear, pull down again.
Step 3: Tap your player
An online player can be tapped. A grey player is offline and cannot be connected; check its power and your WiFi.
Step 4: Fix the security tips
If LAN Encryption is off or a password is weak, a Security Tips window opens. Tap Turn On or Strengthen and follow the steps; the app will not continue until this is done. A strong password has at least 8 characters with capital letters, small letters, numbers and a symbol. The default LAN Encryption password is Console@123 (older versions: console). Change it the first time you connect.
Step 5: Enter the password
Type the LAN Encryption password and tap Next. The main control screen opens.
Step 6: Use the main control screen
At the top is a live picture of what the screen is playing: double-tap to zoom, pull down to refresh. Sleep switches the screen off and on; the speaker and sun icons set volume and brightness. The Terminal tab lists programs already in the player, and the Local tab lists programs made on your phone.
Step 7: Create a program
Tap +, give the program a name, enter your LED screen's resolution (for example 1920 × 1080, or the exact pixels of your screen), pick a window template and tap Next. Tap a window to change its size, position or layer, or to maximise it. One program can have many windows and pages.
Step 8: Add your content
Tap + at the top to add material: image, video, text, clock, weather, webpage and more. Images can be JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP or WEBP; videos can be H.265, H.264, MPEG-4 or Motion JPEG. Tap a material to edit it: Layout for size and position, Style for duration and content, Others for effect, font and colour. Then tap save.
Step 9: Publish to the screen
Tap the publish icon, or press and hold the program in the Local list. Select one or more players and watch the progress bar. When it finishes, your content plays on the LED screen.
Useful settings
On the Terminal List, the three dots next to a player open Terminal Info (resolution, brightness, storage), Connect to Cloud and Delete. The menu at the top right of the control screen has Advanced Settings: HDMI input switch, encryption, screen size, network, date and time, auto brightness, relay switch, language, clear cache, factory reset and reboot. A factory reset or a language change restarts the player.
Common problems
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Player not found in Terminal List | Check you are still on the player's WiFi (not mobile data), then pull down again to refresh. |
| Player shown in grey | It is offline. Check the player's power and that phone and player are on the same network. |
| Phone says "No internet" | Normal for the player's hotspot. Choose to stay connected. |
| "Insufficient terminal space" | The player's storage is full. Delete old programs from the Terminal tab or use smaller files. |
| Changed the WiFi password and lost the connection | Join the player's WiFi again with the new password. |
| Picture cut off or stretched | Set the program resolution to your screen's exact pixel size. |
Which Colorlight player do I need?
Choose by your screen's total pixels: the A30 or A40 for up to 650,000 pixels, the A60 or A100 for up to 1.3 million, the A200 for up to 2.3 million and the A500 for up to 5.2 million. Not sure?
