An LED screen can run for many years if it is installed and used correctly. Most early failures come from moisture, heat, static electricity and poor wiring. These practical tips are based on the precautions in Qiangli's module datasheets.
Before installation
- Age stored modules. If modules have been stored for more than about a month, run them in gradually before full use: start at low brightness and step up over several hours (Qiangli suggests roughly 10%, 30%, 60%, 80% and then 100%).
- Keep batches together. Do not mix modules from different production batches in one screen, or you will see colour blocks.
- Protect against static. Wear an anti-static wrist strap and gloves, and earth your tools while assembling.
Wiring and power
- Never connect a module directly to 230 V mains, and never reverse the DC polarity.
- Tighten terminal screws properly; loose connections heat up and can burn cables.
- Earth the power supply cases, cabinets and steel structure. Qiangli asks for an earth resistance of 10 Ω or less.
- Switch off the main supply before connecting or removing modules and cables.
Day-to-day use
- Avoid showing the same still image or fixed background for long periods; it ages those LEDs unevenly. Use moving content.
- Run indoor screens regularly (Qiangli suggests at least a few hours a day) so the heat drives out moisture. If a screen has been off for a long time, warm it up gradually again.
- Do not touch a lit screen; static from your body can damage LEDs and driver chips.
- Keep welding, cutting and other building work away from an installed screen.
Outdoor screens
- Seal around the screen and between cabinets so water cannot get inside.
- Check for moisture inside the screen after heavy rain.
- Make sure the building has lightning protection and the distribution board has a surge protector.
Spare parts
Keep a few spare modules from the same batch, plus spare power supplies and a receiving card, so repairs are quick. We supply modules, power supplies and control cards for maintenance and repair.
